Paula Sejut-Dvorak, MA, LCPC
Paula is a co-owner of Healing Connections Counseling, PC and has been a mental health therapist for the past six years. Paula received her Bachelor of Science from Loyola University in Psychology and Anthropology in 2002. She worked as a daycare provider and substitute teacher, as well as a case manager for adults with developmental disabilities. She completed her internship at Family Counseling Services in Joliet and in 2007 she received her MA in counseling psychology from Lewis University. . As a therapist, Paula enjoys working with a wide variety of clients, focusing on children with emotional or developmental challenges. When working with adults, Paula focuses on a strong therapeutic alliance while working on cognitive behavioral strategies to help clients cope with challenging emotions and life situations. When working with children, Paula focuses on using developmentally appropriate play therapy to assist children in managing strong emotions, regulating behavior and increasing social skills. Paula works closely with parents, respecting them as the experts on their own children while emphasizing increasing parenting skills and knowledge of appropriate development. Joyce Gonzalez, LCSW
Joyce received her Bachelor of Art degree in Psychology from DePaul University in 2000. After working in a child welfare agency, she returned to school to earn her Master's Degree in Social Work from Aurora University in 2005. She completed her internship at Elgin Mental Health Center. Joyce has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, courts and social service agencies. In addition, she has experience working with children with developmental delays through Early Intervention and is credentialed through EI(Early Intervention) as a LCSW and evaluator.
